Thomas Brückner becomes a new partner at int/ext

Thomas Brückner will join int/ext, a Basel-based consulting firm specializing in reputation, reputational risks, and public affairs, as Partner on January 1, 2026. He most recently served as Head of Communications for the Swiss Federal Audit Office. His close ties to politics and administration, as well as his extensive communications experience in finance and security contexts, will complement the team.

At int/ext, Thomas Brückner will manage strategic consulting and media relations mandates for organizations and leaders in the public sector. He will further develop services for public administrations and political organizations and also focus on communications consulting for organizational change.

“Thomas knows the inner workings of the administration as well as the mechanisms of our political system at all levels. He understands how demanding communication with political actors can be,” says Chair of the Board of Directors and Partner Claudia Bracher Wolfensberger. “Especially in times when dynamism and communication set the pace, he is the ideal addition to int/ext.”

“Thoughtful and agile – that’s what int/ext stands for,” says Thomas Brückner. “I am delighted to be leading this consulting firm with its proven experience, clear positioning and passion for complex topics together with the current Partners Claudia Bracher Wolfensberger and Michael Felber.”

Rooted in Basel, networked in Bern

After serving as secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SP) of Basel-Stadt, Thomas Brückner joined the federal administration in 2009, working as a media spokesperson for the Federal Tax Administration and, from 2015, as head of communications for the Federal Office for Civil Service. There, the historian, who holds a doctorate, also focused on leadership and strategy consulting and supported change processes. In addition, he completed further training in digital transformation and public management.

Most recently, Thomas Brückner was Head of Communications, Publication and Transparency for Political Financing at the Swiss Federal Audit Office. In this role, he was responsible for the communication of Switzerland's top financial supervisory authority and its tasks related to political financing.
